Shipping Dimensions Information

Shipping dimensions can vary depending on the package type that the order is shipped in. If specific packaging types aren’t pre-selected, ShippingTree will always default to the smallest package type to safely ship your items. Below is a list of package types and how their dimensions are entered into our system:

  • Boxes and Poster Tubes: The system will use the outermost dimensions of the box or tube (i.e. the true dimensions of the box or poster tube). These dimensions are fixed.
  • Polybags: We use the dimensions of the contents of the bag. So, if we select a 10×8 polybag to ship your items, but we fold it in half to better form fit the contents, we will enter the dimensions as 8x5xH (the height will vary depending on the contents)
  • Mailers and Envelopes: These packaging types have fixed length and widths, but the height can be variable. Our system will utilize the height of the items in the order when entering the dimensions.
  • Custom Packaging: All custom packaging will be entered in the same manner as our standard packaging.

Note: There are no exceptions to the above guidelines. Carriers will impose fees and penalties if proper dimensions are not used when purchasing labels.
