Automating Fulfillment Location Changes to ShippingTree

Introduction

In this guide, we will walk you through automating the process of updating the fulfillment location for orders to ShippingTree using Shopify Flow. This automation ensures orders are correctly assigned to ShippingTree without manual intervention, saving you time and reducing errors.

Step 1: Install Shopify Flow

1. Visit the Shopify Flow app page: Shopify Flow.

2. Click Install and follow the installation instructions.

3. Once installed, Flow will appear in the Shopify Admin sidebar.

Step 2: Explore Pre-Built Templates

Before diving into custom workflows, you can browse the Flow dashboard and explore the variety of pre-built templates designed to integrate easily into your store. These templates offer solutions for various scenarios, from customer notifications to inventory management, and can provide inspiration for your custom workflows.

Step 3: Creating the Fulfillment Location Automation

Once Shopify Flow is installed, create a new workflow

3. Trigger: When Order is Ready to Fulfill
   • Set the workflow to trigger “When order is ready to fulfill.” Learn more about this trigger here.

4. Click on the THEN button and select Condition:
   • In the condition panel on the right, you can add logical conditions based on your workflow’s requirements.

Step 5: Set Up Custom Logic to Control Fulfillment

For this example, we will create a condition to to validate the current fulfillment location. Ensure that the location name is case-sensitive, e.g., “ShippingTree” is not the same as “shippingtree”

Step 6: Action: Move to a Different Location

Set the action to move the order to a different location.

When prompted, select ShippingTree as the fulfillment location in the modal.

Step 7: Activating the Automation

Once your workflow is set up, make sure to turn it on.

Step 8: Verifying the Automation

After the workflow is live:

1. Place a test order to verify that the automation works as expected.
2. Navigate to the Order Details Page for the test order.
3. Check for the event log indicating that the fulfillment location was successfully moved to ShippingTree.
